In the city of Ottawa alone, the number of women who cannot afford feminine hygiene products is staggering. During this pandemic, the numbers are only climbing. While social distancing has forced many small businesses to shut their doors for safety reasons, Femade could not sit idle. So we called PeriodPacks613 - who are on a constant mission to dissolve the geographical and financial barriers Canadians face while trying to access vital period products - and asked if we could help.
Femade’s involvement during this stressful time is to assist with collecting extra feminine hygiene products from families in our community who have extra to spare. The products will be going to The Travel Lodge on Carling (which is currently generously housing families experiencing homelessness), The Caldwell Family Centre, St. Joe’s Women’s Centre, Centre Espois Sophie, The Well and other programs under the management of The Day Program Coalition.
What we need from you: If you have extra unopened packages of tampons or pads in your home, and would be willing to donate those products to women in these housing situations, please contact us.
Simply:
Connect with us on instagram (femade.ca), or email (info@femade.ca) and send us your name, address and phone number.
Let us know when the products are available for pick up.
Leave the products somewhere we can pick them up safely (front porch, main lobby with attendant)
Then sit back and feel great about doing something AMAZING!
Please understand that due to provincial crossing restrictions we are unable to do pickups in the province of Quebec, and are restricted to the Ottawa (613) area.
